Pam Anderson leads PETA campaign against seal hunt

VICTORIA — Pamela Anderson stars in a new ad campaign for PETA in which she appears next to the headline "Save the Seals" and urges the public to help end "Canada's annual seal slaughter."

A news release from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) says that the European Union and the U.S. have banned seal products, and world leaders — including Russia's Vladimir Putin and President Barack Obama — have spoken out against the annual massacre."

"This year, tens of thousands of harp seal pups — some as young as two weeks old — were beaten with clubs, shot, impaled with hooks, and even skinned alive for their fur as their mothers helplessly watched nearby."

With more than two million members and supporters, PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world.

Anderson, who's from Ladysmith, B.C., is well known for her career in television and in movies.

A source at the famous Los Angeles hotel tells Life & Style magazine, "They checked in around 4pm and were ushered straight to their poolside bungalow. They were holding hands when they arrived, and Angie was really excited.

"They looked like they were on a date. They had no security with them, and they were incredibly relaxed."

According to the insider, the evening was planned meticulously by Pitt, who insisted on dealing only with top-level hotel staff members to make sure the night wasn't ruined by fans or photographers.

The source adds, "They just wanted a quiet night by themselves."

The publication reports the couple left the hotel just before lunch the following day and tipped "generously".

The insider recalls, "They looked so happy. They’d obviously had a lovely night together."

Reports are saying that Angelina Jolie is considering adopting a baby from China. Some insiders say that she was inspired by her feelings of sympathy for the earthquake victims that devastated China in May, leaving plenty of kids orphaned.

A source told Britain’s Star magazine: “Angelina Jolie is devastated over the earthquake that occurred in China in May. She has been in constant touch with relief workers as part of her UN involvement, and even got her hands on photos of a few orphaned kids.
